Job Summary: The Programme Coordinator- Thrive will contribute in achieving World Vision Uganda’s (WVU) child wellbeing targets in designated clusters through planning, monitoring and implementing THRIVE 2.0 Building Secure Livelihoods, Economic Empowerment Business Plan (FY23-2030). The aspired outcome is to empower at least 212,858HH (1,064,291) participants/ people (because children live there) with tools they need to move themselves up the economic ladder from extreme poverty and toward economic sustainability through following packaged, sequenced, and layered Building Secure interventions of Biblical Empowered World View (EWV), Savings for Transformation (S4T), Local Value Chain Development (LVCD), and Finance for Accelerating Savings Group Transformation (FAST). The position will be at National level, located in Kampala and overseeing implementation across 22 Area Programmes.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Project planning and implementation
- Ensure that the project area designs are in line with the THRIVE model on improving livelihoods and resilience
- Supervise and monitor ongoing activities under the Thrive 2.0 project
- Ensure quality implementation of sequenced interventions of all components of THRIVE; BEWV, S4T, LVCD in 22 Area Programmes.
- Coordinate and oversee strengthened partnership with Vision Fund in implementation of FAST loans to S4T Groups, and strengthened partnerships with other private partners including Dream Start Labs, MasterCard and Farm Concern International for improved delivery and quality of interventions to maximize impact for households and to ensure sustainability of THRIVE 2.0 beyond the project
- Initiate and participate in Production and food production district Advocacy initiatives
- Liaise with the National office technical specialists for quality implementation of Thrive 2.0 project.
- Ensure assessment and mainstreaming of GESI and other cross cuttings themes into the Thrive 2.0 project design and during implementation.
- Ensure operational integration with other WV sectors in intervention areas such as Health, education and child protection.
- Work with sponsorship staff to ensure Registered Children and their households are participating and benefiting from Thrive 2.0 project interventions.
- Quality Thrive 2.0 project designed and effectively and efficiently implemented
Technical support and training
- Identify local level capacity needs and support capacity building activities for WVU staff and partners to improve the quality of Thrive 2.0 implementation.
- Participate in development /adaption of training curriculum/manuals for implementation in the project area
- Mobilization and conducting trainings to build capacities of staff and partners on BSL model interventions (BEWV, S4T, LVCD), Digitalization of S4T & FGs, enterprise appraisal, business facilitation, Advocacy and external engagement, DRR
- Identify technical experts to train, mentor, coach and strengthen partners /farmer organizations and community groups in organizational and institutional capacities
- Liaise with the National Office technical specialists on staff capacity building in Thrive 2.0 programming
- Competent program teams nurtured and motivated to deliver on THRIVE 2.0 outputs/outcomes
Partnership and networking
- Identify, build and strengthen key strategic partnerships/linkages, relations, collaborations and networks with partners (both internal and external who share vision and interests) and other stakeholders in implementation of THRIVE 2.0 project and to ensure sustainability beyond the project cycle.
- Participate and represent WVU in key donor engagements and technical working forums at district, Region and National level when applicable
- Point of contact for consultation on issues to do with THRIVE 2.0 programming.
- WV is represented in partner and external engagements at district, regional, and national levels
Research, Documentation and Evidence building
- Effectively document all information related to project successes, innovations and promising practices and disseminate through appropriate mechanisms.
- Responsible for capturing child well-being indicators related to THRIVE 2.0 project at national level
- Ensure identification of research areas, conduct research and document key learning
- Conduct information needs assessments in sustainable agriculture, value addition and marketing
- Spearhead the THRIVE 2.0 output & outcome monitoring processes
- Support processes of baselines and evaluation of THRIVE 2.0 project and interventions.
- Best practices and innovations are well documented and shared for scale up and learning
Quality Reporting and Documentation
- Track and manage budgets allocated for the project across assigned APs
- Produce timely, accurate, compliant and quality reports
- Participant in Resilience and Livelihood management meetings and reflection forums
- Project monitoring and reporting supported
Resource Acquisition
- Identify and initiate viable funding proposals for resource acquisition to support THRIVE 2.0 project interventions.
- Participate in resource mobilization through concept papers/proposal writing for fund raising and market them with support offices and other donors
- Sector based fundable proposals written and submitted
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant for the World Vision Programme Coordinator- Thrive job must hold a Masters’ degree in: Agriculture, Agribusiness or Resilience and Livelihood related discipline from reputable university.
- Five years of post-graduate experience preferably with an International NGO in facilitating agribusiness/agriculture Development programs
- Must have a passion for Agribusiness, rural development and related activities.
- Willing to learn more on issues related to Building Secure Livelihood interventions including BEWV, S4T, LVCD, Digitalization of S4T & FGs, enterprise appraisal and business facilitation, Advocacy and external engagement, DRR
- Familiar with relevant PC software
- Business background in cooperatives, organization development and agro value chains
- Ability to work and communicate in cross-cultural environment;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other sectors e.g. Health, Child Protection, Education, business community and government officials;
- Experience in developing agri-business program strategies, approaches and models.
- Experience in program design, proposal writing, and resource mobilization.
- Experience in networking and strategic relationships management.
- Good research, evidence-generation, policy debate and advocacy skills.
- Self-motivated and ability to make decisions;
- Has an in depth knowledge in the functioning of agribusiness programmes/projects
- Practical skills in facilitating communities’ understanding and application of agribusiness approaches in agricultural production and marketing
- Particular skills in facilitating farmer collective actions for sustainable agricultural production and marketing
- Has skills and experience in facilitating development of sustainable market linkages with chain actors
- Knowledge and Skills in gender analysis and participatory methodologies
- Has good networking and communication skills
- Has a good understanding of district, national and eastern African regional and global market dynamics
- Is creative and has a sense for innovation and experiments
- Excellent interpersonal, facilitation and business negotiation skills.
- A working knowledge of strategic Learning through Evaluation Accountability and Planning is an asset
