Truck Driver x4 Kakira Sugar Limited

Job title: Truck Driver

Reports to (position): Irrigation Project Installation & Maintenance Manager
Supervises (Name of Positions): None

Overall purpose of the job.
To drive the company vehicle on both short and long journeys and to report any faults and incidences in case they occur.

Key Responsibilities
• Drive the vehicle safely as per scheduled trips on official company business.
• Keep the company vehicle clean and secure while under charge and when on duty.
• Carry out basic maintenance on the assigned vehicle such as inflating/replacing tyres, topping up oil etc.
• Ensure good overall working condition of the vehicle inclusive of fuel level.
• Park the vehicle every evening in the official parking yard (s) or as directed by superiors
• Maintain the vehicle logbook of all journeys and fuel/lubricant issues. ▪

Identify and report all faults in/on the vehicle to the immediate supervisor/workshop supervisor as soon as possible.
• Ensure adherence to safety, health and environment policies of the company.
• Ensure pre-task risk assessments and permits are done for all major works before execution
• Perform any other duties as maybe assigned by the Supervisor/Management.

Knowledge, qualifications & Experience
Education:
A minimum of Uganda Certificate of Education plus a valid National Driving Permit free of any endorsement for the class of vehicle assigned.

Experience, Skills and Competences:
A minimum of three (3) years driving experience in a reputable organisation with relevant classes free of any endorsement and in heavy vehicles. Good task allocation, good record keeping.

Communication Skills: The position demands constant interactions with employees, management, and stakeholders throughout the business and, therefore, communication skills are an absolute necessity.

Ms Office: Though not a strict prerequisite requirement, skills in the use of Ms Word, Ms Excel and PowerPoint will be an added advantage.

Analytical Skills: A candidate for this position must be capable of gathering and interpreting raw information and data, documenting findings, and drawing appropriate recommendations.

Interpersonal Skills: The candidate must be a helpful, calm and professional individual and demonstrate calmness during times of uncertainty.

People Skills: individual who is able to gunner the trust and respect of departmental heads and management.
