dfcu Bank is a fast-growing Bank in Uganda offering a wide range of financial solutions to its chosen market segments. We are seeking to recruit for the role of Money Markets Trader to support our expansion strategy.
REPORTING TO: Head of Global Financial Markets
JOB PURPOSE: Reporting to Head of Global Financial Markets, the role holder will be responsible for exploring avenues for contributing to the banks profitability and expertise in matters related to funding of the Bank’s positions, meeting reserving requirements and trading in government securities.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Grow the Bank’s interest income through interbank lending.
2. Anticipate and be alert to market changes and spot opportunities for investment.
3. Manage inter-bank money market transactions which include placements, borrowings and REPOS.
4. In conjunction with Treasury, ensure that the bank meets it Cash Reserve Requirements.
5. Funding of NOSTROS and clearing accounts to ensure that there are sufficient funds to meet clients’ needs at any time.
6. Monitor limits to keep within the Bank’s acceptable risk apetite.
7. Liaise with the relevant stakeholders to get an understanding of all major clients’ current cash positions and anticipated future cash positions to take relevant decisions.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE and COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
1. A university Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Actuarial Sciences, or related field.
2. At least 4 years’ experience in Banking.
3. Basic working knowledge of Financial Markets.
4. Strong analytical skills.
5. Mathematically inclined.
6. Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
7. Ability to Keep up with global developments including economic & political developments in as far as they relate to interest rates, exchange rates, commodity prices etcetera.
8. Basic knowledge of treasury products especially financial markets products.
9. Willingness to take measured risks.
10. Broad knowledge of banking practices and local banking regulations.
11. A good appreciation and knowledge of Risk Management, Covering Credit, Market, Counterparty and Operational Risk.
12. Good analytical and decision-making skills.
13. Self-driven.
14. Ability to work in a matrix organisation.
