United Nations African Institute for the Prevention of Crime and the Treatment of Offenders (UNAFRI) seeks to promote harmonious socioeconomic development in the countries of the region through the incorporation, in national planning, of suitable policies and program for crime prevention and criminal justice as a means of reducing the potentially negative side-effects of dysfunctional growth and attendant change, and their human and material costs.
Job Summary: The Bilingual Secretary will provide bilingual secretarial services
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Typing all work in French and occasionally in English
- Translating documents either in French or English
- In charge of monitoring, coordinating and scrutinizing translation of documents done outside the Institute.
- Attending to in-coming telephone calls.
- Organizing monthly Management Committee Meetings, drawing agenda and taking minutes.
- Guiding on the best office practices.
- Proof-reading articles for the Institute’s web site.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Diploma in Secretarial Studies but Degree in Secretarial Studies would be more desirable.
- Bilingual Secretarial Certificate
- A minimum of four years of experience in a reputable organization.
- Proficiency in French.
- Communication skills
- Organizational skills
- Typing skills
- Proficiency in the use of computers
- Age: Below 40 years
NB: There is need to develop the incumbent to the recommended level if is still trainable.
