Pharmacy Technician/Dispenser Case Hospital

The Pharmacy Technician/Dispenser is responsible for preparing and dispensing drugs to patients and healthcare providers. Verifies that prescriptions are filled correctly and in a timely manner. Interacts with patients in delivering medications and completing other sales transactions. Receives, records, and stores medications coming into the pharmacy. Maintains stock of prescription medications and informs the pharmacist of inventory needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Serves patients by preparing medications, giving pharmacological information to multidisciplinary health care team, and monitoring patient drug therapies.
2. Prepares medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders and detecting therapeutic incompatibilities.
3. Dispenses medications by compounding, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals.
4. Controls medications by monitoring drug therapies; advising interventions.
5. Maintains records for controlled substances and removes outdated and damaged drugs from the pharmacy inventory.
6. Protects patients and staff by adhering to infection-control protocols.
7. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
8. Provide drug information to patients, clients and other health professionals in the hospital.
9. Counseling and advising patients on sensitive medication where issues of drug compliance is Key.
10. Advising health professionals on drug alternatives in case of drug stock outs.
11. Reporting any adverse drug reaction to the pharmacy Manager.
12. Ensure effective communication between the Doctors.
13. Ensures that documentation of all drugs and consumables bought by the Hospital are kept in proper and orderly manner and accessible by the pharmacy Manager when need arises.
14. Ensuring that records of all consumables and medicines are kept in an efficient and effective manner including those of daily consumption.
15. To ensure proper maintenance and functioning of pharmaceutical equipment.
16. Ensuring appropriate storage of drugs/items that need special attention like vaccines and other sensitive drugs.
17. In liaison with Finance conducts monthly stock take and resolves any identified variances.
18. Ensures that patient billing is accurate.
19. Keep Case Hospital Flag up at all times by ensuring highest practicable standards when it comes to pharmaceutical service Delivery.

EDUCATIONAL & EXPERIENCE
1. Diploma in Pharmacy
2. To have a valid Annual Practicing license.
3. At least 2 years’ experience as a dispenser.
