In support of the Secretary-General’s priorities, and in advancement of the UN Charter, Global Pulse serves as a cross-pillar lead and hub for experimentation and digital innovation.

Our mission is to work at the intersection of digital innovation and science to inform, inspire and support the entire UN and those it serves, to anticipate and respond to the challenges of today and tomorrow. The goals of UNGP are: i) to generate knowledge, capabilities and approaches that support the transformation of the United Nations into a more agile and resilient ‘next-generation’ institution; ii) to create and accelerate the development of globally accessible approaches that help communities and partners anticipate and address emerging global challenges; and iii) to advocate for the global transformation of policies, practices and culture required to maximize the impact of digital innovation, minimize its risk of harm, and ensure pathways to scale and sustainability.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the Policy Officer, the UN Volunteer, Policy & Partnership Assistant, will perform the following tasks:
- Research and analyse policy documents and support in the documentation of project work
- Support the identification, development and management of potential partnerships
- Contribute to the preparation of accurate and timely reporting on programmes and activities that enable informed decision making and consistency of information presented to stakeholders.
- Liaise with internal counterparts and functional units to ensure effective collaboration, monitor ongoing projects.
- Research and analyze policy and operational issues to inform the development of in-country social protection policies, strategies, programmes, and activities.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant for the UNDP job must hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Political Science, Public Administration, Computer Sciences, International Relations, Law, or other relevant fields is required.
- At least three years of experience in data privacy, data protection, data or AI governance, including AI Ethics with a focus on Global South.
- Experience in project management in the field of data and AI governance, policy research and drafting policy recommendations on digital development and digital transformation is desirable;
- Familiarity with data governance, AI strategies, and data exchange concepts is an asset;
- Working knowledge of data and AI applications for social good is desirable;
- Technical expertise in the area of AI or data science or related technical fields, including data innovation for social good, is an asset;
- Excellent writing, reporting, analytical and communication skills are an asset.
- Experience in the use of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel etc.) and advanced knowledge of spreadsheet and database packages.
- Candidate must be a national or legal resident of the country of assignment.

- Have affinity with or interest in Data driven projects, Convenings, Policy frameworks , volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System.
