About Madrasa Early Childhood Programme:

The Madrasa Early Childhood Programme- Uganda (MECP-U) is an initiative of the Aga Khan Foundation that supports holistic development of children aged 0-8 years. MECP-U works with diverse stakeholders including communities, civil society, government, and development partners to deliver high quality, innovative and impactful programming that is needs based and contextually relevant.

 

Job Summary:  MECP-U is seeking dynamic and qualified individuals for a position of a Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant to assist the MEAL office.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide timely and quality M&E data inputs to the regular (monthly, quarterly, and annual) program reports.
  • Ensure M&E data needs are integrated into programme quality tools and do not exist as separate M&E or data collection tools and processes.
  • Conduct Routine Monitoring of activities and support monitoring and evaluation processes for different MECPU projects.
  • Be responsible for all data management needs under the program.
  • Perform regular quality assurance checks on programme and project
  • activities in line with programme/project objectives, standards, and Performance Measurement frameworks.
  • Actively participate in report compilation for both internal and
  • external purposes
  • Assist the MERL Officer in conducting Bi-annual assessment to assess effectiveness of caregivers engaging children, teachers, parents, and schools in meeting MoH and MoES guidelines.
  • Ensure documentation of success stories, and impact from the ground maintaining a rich data base of stories with pictures and case studies on lessons learnt and best practices.
  • Work with the MECPU team, MERL Officer, and project partners to facilitate documentation and dissemination of program learning activities.
  • Participate in updating of AKF-MECPU online technologies in M&E including the Awards Information Management System (AIMS), and Global Reach System (GRS).
  • Provide timely updates to programme team on data generated from community engagement activities.
  • Assist the project MERLO and Programme Manager to continuously assess the impact of the program on the communities and school of implementation.
  • Conduct rapid assessment on the challenges teachers, parents, and children are facing and how they are engaging with the radio, and distributed IEC materials for continuous learning.
  • Perform other relevant duties as and when assigned, by or via the Programme Manager, MERL Officer, and Senior management team.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree in science and Population Studies or Statistics or Quantitative Economics or Development Studies
  • Post graduate diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation is an added advantage.
  • The ideal candidate should possess at least two years of experience in conducting M&E activities in a reputable organisation.
  • Past exposure and experience in participating in the design of
  • M&E systems and tools, including baseline studies, at a project
  • start-up (preferred).
  • Proven track record of utilizing M&E software such as Excel,
  • SPSS to track and analyse M&E data.
  • Experience with M&E for Early Childhood Development and education programming (preferred).
  • Experience of data base management including use of online reporting technologies like Kobo Collect, ODK, survey CTO, data analysis and ability
  • to write quality reports and communicate findings.
  • Strong communication and networking skills.
  • Experience working effectively across diverse cultures.
  • Possess a willingness to learn from, and share new ideas with the
  • project teams.
  • High analytical skills and the ability to assimilate and process information on a wide range of issues, excellent writing, communication,. Agile thinker and able to work within and through systems
  • Team player collaborates effectively to create a culture of knowledge sharing and team learning to strengthen business performance.
  • Committed to acting ethically and upholding safeguarding standards towards all staff, volunteers, and beneficiaries of the organisation.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, Databases, etc).
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills in a cross-cultural context.
