Salary Scale:  UGX 1,900,000 –  2,000,000 (Gross P/Month)

In 2011, Alight helped nearly 2.5 million people get essential services to regain their health and take back control of their lives. Alight works with its partners and constituencies to provide opportunities and expertise to communities of refugees and internally displaced persons in seven countries in Africa, Asia and Europe, including Iraq, Kosovo, and in the Darfur region of Sudan and is currently providing for emergency relief and recovery in Haiti. Alight provides shelter, clean water and sanitation, health care, skills training, microcredit education, protection to help survivors of war and natural disasters to rebuild their lives with dignity, health care, security and self-sufficiency.

 

Job Summary: Reporting directly to the Monitoring Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Technical Coordinator, the Data Insights and Communications Associate will support in the oversight and compilation of data shared from the field locations and will assist in the data generation and knowledge management for the for internal and external reports and communication documents. This role’s deliverables will support the MEL Unit to develop insights and impact data and to communicate these effectively externally.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Data insights generation

  • Review monthly data from teams, update indicator trackers and share progress on monthly basis.
  • Identify and document lessons learnt and best practices from project implementation.
  • Build the capacity of staff in capturing, review and finalization of human-interest stories and case studies for beneficiaries using ALIGHT guidelines.
  • Build the capacity building of staff of photography and videography to improve capturing of high-quality impactful photos.
  • Support the MEL Technical Coordinator in enhancing the collection of impact data and generation of insights
  • Support the MEL Technical Coordinator in the analysis of assessment data and generation of insights and learnings
  • Production of data insights from data to inform ALIGHT programmes

Data communications

  • Capture and disseminate learnings in ways that are accessible to ALIGHT staff
  • Build the capacity of staff on how to present data more effectively in presentations, reports etc. to enhance the quality of communications internally and externally
  • Develop a simple training guide for staff on to present data in reports and external documents
  • Develop high quality ALIGHT branded external facing templates that staff can utilize for high quality external summaries and reports
  • Produce communication documents showcasing ALIGHT’s impact and insights for external dissemination i.e., Fact sheets, Briefs, Sector Summaries .
  • Utilise data visualisation techniques in the presentation of data
  • Support graphic design requests, video editing, create event content and organize an ALIGHT photobank on SharePoint.
  • Follow up on reports being developed at the field level and provide timely feedback on the quality and presentation of data by teams

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Development, Social Sciences, Evaluation/ Research or any related field from an accredited university including a component on utilizing data
  • At least three (3) years of experience in working with data and leading on communicating and presenting of programme data as part of a communications team, MEL team, Fundraising team
  • Demonstrated skills in research, data management, reporting and communication of data
  • Knowledge of common statistical analysis, database management packages and digital data collection such as Ms. Access, Ms. Excel, SPSS, Kobo/ODK.
  • Excellent skills in planning, organizing, preparing facilitation materials and guides.
  • Demonstrated ability to write clearly, insightfully and persuasively on tight deadlines.
  • Experience in production of high-quality external communication templates and documents on project achievements/ impact
  • Experience in building the capacity of staff in external communications
  • Proficiency in the use of computers and standard applications; as well as experience in utilizing softwares for the creation of external facing documents
