Job Summary: The Project Manager will be part of team of several staff who will run the projects won by Fracht Uganda SMC Ltd. The incumbent will manage projects from the beginning until the end including keeping close contact to the client
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design and implement business strategies, plans and procedures
- Establish framework, goals, and measurement of project performance
- Manage a portfolio of projects through the entire lifecycle from intake to delivery and support
- ensuring solutions are aligned to overall strategic objectives
- Provide proactive and timely project updates, challenges, issues, risks and to all project stakeholders
- Identify and assign cross-functional teams required for project execution and complete reviews to ensure workload balance
- Propose conceptual solutions, develop, and execute a communication strategy for all the different project stakeholders
- Establish, maintain, and improve reports and ensure project updates and inputs are complete
- Provide leadership for project team by building and motivating team members to meet project goals and adhere to the project management methodology, templates, best practices, and standard processes/procedures
- Acts as an escalation point for project teams dealing with issues, conflicts and risks and provide support and advice for removing roadblocks and resolving conflicts.
- Identify, develop, and implement PM best practices; continually improve project templates and processes.
- Ensure projects maintain a focus on quality and benefits throughout their lifecycle, including benefits definition and realization in line with the relevant business case (ROI)
- Develop and manage third party vendor relationships to ensure project deliverables and to address day to day concerns/issues.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree however experience is most important
- Five years of experience in a similar position at a top ten East African Forwarder
- Must have good contacts with East African transport operators
- Good knowledge of heavy equipment transport
- Experienced team leader who can form a team of competent colleagues
- Fluent in English, Swahili, and Luganda
- Good IT knowledge required
- Willing to travel within East Africa on a regular basis
- Experience in oil and gas
- Must be commercial and client friendly
- Must have a filled address book with contacts to be used during the job performance
- Open to qualified Ugandans or Foreign National (expatriate terms)
- Must have a work permit for Foreign Nationals
