Job Summary:  The Dispatch Supervisor will ensure safety of the people and equipment as well as environment, oversee Packing Plant operations, ensure daily Cement Dispatch per quality and quantity planned, manage paper bags reconciliation and ensure compliance to the procedures, practices and regulations that make the overall objective attainable to the satisfaction of customers.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Health, Safety and Environment;

  • Comply with Health & Safety Rules and Regulations as per Holcim H&S Standards and Advisories
  • Communicate clearly on information relating to potentially dangerous situations and get confirmation that they are correctly understood.
  • Make sure that key Dispatch equipment is working properly.
  • Ensure the use of Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Check for safety and cleanness in the workplace
  • Comply with Environmental Rules and Regulations as per Holcim environmental standards and local regulations

Dispatch Volume

  • Ensure the achievement of Dispatch targets in line with business strategy.
  • Ensure first level inspection is done and identified gaps are addressed
  • Work closely with the maintenance team at packing plant and improve packer utilization
  • Keep track of packing plant KPI’s and communicate progress
  • Liaise with Sales and Logistics team to ensure Cement Dispatch targets are achieved while maintaining the equipment in good state
  • Conduct daily toolbox meeting to discuss existing problems and identifying best solutions for those problems and to plan the required actions addressing them.

People and Development;

  • Define the Missions and Objectives of Dispatch workforce and carry out their performance reviews
  • Promote the quality of the work and motivate the personnel,
  • Develop their skills to keep abreast of technical developments

Planning and Reporting

  • Make requests to stores and follow up on accountability for paper bags and other materials used at packing plant.
  • Ensures daily paper bags reconciliation report against cement dispatched are done.
  • Adhere to S&OP plan thus better planning of maintenance activities on the equipment
  • Prepare reports covering Dispatch KPI’s in order to facilitate management decision making.

Policies, processes and procedures

  • Ensure the application of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) within the process, in line with group policies and procedures.
  • Review and approve operational procedures of the process in line with group policies and procedures.
  • Make decisions for advanced operational issues and set the directions for the process in line with business strategy.
  • Set and ensure the implementation of SOP’s for Packing Operations

Digitalization

  • Drive and support digitalization for improved visibility and utilization across all processes.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Technical Diploma in Engineering/ Sciences.
  • Knowledge in Health, Safety and Environment is an added advantage.
  • Three to four years of work experience preferably in an FMCG or a similar industrial environment.
  • Excels in a fast-paced environment, owns the outcomes.
  • Imagines new ways of doing things, makes them happen.
  • Deep commitment to personal growth (and role modelling as such).
  • Ability to work in a VUCA environment
  • Self-driven, results oriented.
  • Able to plan and prioritise
  • Comfortable dealing with people and a good listener
  • Reliable, tolerant & determined

  • Working knowledge of Excel, Word, Power Point, TIS &PACT, & other relevant tools
