Job Summary: We currently have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual to join our Internal Client Services – Finance Department as a Project Services/Accounts Receivable Accountant. This position will be based in our Kampala office in Uganda.
The successful candidate will provide effective support to the Finance team while ensuring timely delivery of work in the allocated area.
Job Purpose of the job: The role holder will effectively deliver Project Services (PS) Accounting services to the business and ensure correct reporting of revenue as well as maintain the integrity of engagements in the SAP platform.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Circulate weekly revenue reports to teams and provide business insights to service lines and Finance team leaders based on available data;
- Perform first-level revenue analysis and combine with cost analysis from the General Accounting Accountant, provide feedback to the Country/ Regional/ Service Line Partner/s on project related results;
- Coordinate quarterly Work in Progress (WIP) audits and ensures East Africa service lines sign off WIP balances at the end of each financial year;
- Assist Business in collating the required information (such as the project plan, billing schedule and resourcing) to open project codes;
- Verify accuracy and completeness of information required to open project codes;
- Enforce compliance of governance requirements in the way that codes are opened;
- Oversee the engagement code opening and integration of CRM to SAP and load any additional information required by SAP;
- Ensure timeous and accurate opening and closing of engagement codes (by self or Business if applicable;
- Manage billing based on the project plan and instruction from Business;
- Submit zero rated/ exempt VAT invoices to the Tax Compliance Accountant for tax compliance checks;
- Manage project code closure, with no activity, via a monthly ‘clean-up’ exercises;
- Resolve queries relating to project services data or processes;
- Provide assistance and system training to project leaders on SAP activities relating to WIP and revenue reviews, rebates, provisions and revenue recognition reconciliations;
- Remain aware of risks in area of expertise in consideration of Deloitte policies and processes;
- Maintain and issue petty cash to staff after proper approvals;
- Receive, record and ensure banking of all monies paid by clients and provide up to date debtor lists to facilitate follow up;
- Handle and advice to clients on systems and procedures;
- Prepare general and other ledgers as per set guidelines within specified time frames;
- Process monthly claims for all staff;
- Prepare monthly journal for bank reconciliation and cash received by allocating it to the different service lines;
- Carefully check invoices and submit for authorization in time for payment;
- Carry out regular investigations to ensure that expenditure is kept within the agreed limits;
- Ensure reports are submitted on time, to meet specified deadlines; and
- Contribute to proper knowledge management within the department.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate should at least hold an Upper Second class Bachelor’s Degree in a Business-related field from a recognized university;
- A minimum of 16 points in ‘A’ Level or equivalent;
- A first Grade in ‘O’ Level (with at least credit 3 in English and Mathematics) or equivalent;
- At least one year of relevant work experience;
- Undertaking studies leading to qualification in Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (CPA) and or equivalent is an added advantage;
- Experience in a professional services firm will be an added advantage;
- Be a Ugandan Citizen or eligible to work in Uganda.
