Organizational Background
Uganda Healthcare Federation (UHF) is a registered not for profit organization, limited by guarantee, non-state (private) health sector umbrella body established in 2010 to champion the interests of the private health sector in Uganda. UHF has a membership of over 59 health related associations and organizations representing different types of private health facilities, full range of health professionals delivering private healthcare, social franchises, private medical training institutions, private pharmaceutical manufacturers, distributors and retail pharmacies. The Federation’s purpose includes advocating and supporting its members in policy and other decision making forums, representing its members at both the national and country levels, providing networking and training opportunities to improve quality of health services delivered, strengthen business skills and enhance market opportunities in healthcare, and provide an annual conference for the education of its members and exchange of information on issues essential to the quality and business of healthcare in Uganda.
The Purpose of the Position.
The Infection Prevention and Control Response Coordinator (IPC RC) will manage and coordinate the implementation of UHF’s EVD Infection Prevention and Control activities in Central Region in line with the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) and Ministry of Health (MOH) taskforce. The IPC RC will be responsible for liaising with the various stakeholders in the Kampala taskforce, including IPC trainers, Division leadership and FHI360 Ebola Response team management.
We are looking for a visionary change maker who can combine private health sector perspectives with strong health systems understanding.

Roles and Responsibilities:
• The IPC RC will work closely with the UHF team to schedule, coordinate and host continuous medical education (CME) for facilities identified for support, as well as District leadership and IPC training teams as required.
• The IPC RM will support preparedness, capacity building and strengthening activities in at-risk facilities and health outlets including drug shops and pharmacies using innovative tools and approaches. Effectively the IPC RC will be responsible for integration of the approaches proposed by the Kampala EVD Taskforce and the MOH, with the scope of work under UHF, ensuring the UHF meets desired objectives and goals while being well coordinated and integrated with other programs in the overall EVD Response.
To provide technical assistance in planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the project in close coordination with the UHF team.
• To mobilize and coordinate key stakeholders in KCCA, MOH and FHI360 for their technical inputs and supports to the response.
• To coordinate development and/or review and adaptation of response tools and materials, messages and sensitization materials, etc.
• To establish and maintain effective working relationships with district leadership, private health outlets, Ministry of Health officials and various UHF stakeholders. Coordinate with FHI360 teams, other implementing partners and stakeholders involved in the EVD response to ensure synergy and alignment to MOH and KCCA recommendations.
Represent UHF at EVD related and coordination meetings as required.

Required Experience and Qualifications:
• A bachelor’s degree in medicine, nursing/midwifery, or public health/related disciplines.
• Experience in training in emergency public health interventions will be an added advantage.
• A master’s degree in public health with specialization in Epidemiology, Health promotion & prevention will be an added advantage.
Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in organizing Continuous Professional Development/Continuous Medical Education events.
• Minimum of 4 years of work experience in public health program implementation.
• Must be registered with their respective professional councils.
• Experience in response to epidemics working with multiple partners will be of added advantage.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and must be able to communicate and coordinate effectively with health facility and division teams
• Good stakeholder management and collaboration skills.
• A demonstrated ability to use a health systems approach to challenges and willingness to adapt to changes in strategy.
• Strong communication skills (oral and written) with ability to express ideas and concepts clearly and persuasively with internal and external stakeholders of both junior and senior levels
