About US:

The Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU) is a statutory body established under Section 9 of the Petroleum (Exploration, Development and Production Act 2013, and in line with the National Oil and Gas Policy for Uganda which was approved in 2008. The PAU’s mandate is to monitor and regulate the exploration, development and production, together with the refining, gas conversion, transportation and storage of petroleum in Uganda. This includes ensuring that petroleum operations in Uganda are carried out in accordance with the relevant laws, regulations, guidelines, statutes and in line with international best practice for the petroleum industry.

 

Job Summary: The Petroleum Officer – Gas Processing will monitor and regulate the development and operation of gas processing facilities to ensure that they are designed, constructed, operated, and maintained in a safe, efficient and secure manner.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and regulate all activities related to the development of gas processing facilities.
  • Review the plans and engineering designs of gas processing facilities and evaluate and advise on codes and standards for the gas processing facilities.
  • Support review of the country’s legislation for petroleum gas processing and the negotiation of agreements for gas processing projects.
  • Review of technical and periodic progress reports submitted for gas processing facilities.
  • Facilitate the development and implementation of operational guidelines and manuals for gas processing facilities.
  • Support the development of the work plans, budget, and progress reports for the department.
  • Undertake any other assignments as may be directed from time to time.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal applicant must hold an Honor’s Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Physical Sciences from an internationally recognized institution.
  • At least three years of working experience in oil and gas process facilities design, development, or operations.
  • Master’s Degree in Refinery Design and Operation or Chemical Process Design or Chemical Process Engineering from an internationally recognized University/Institution.
  • Report Writing skills.
  • Interpersonal skills.
  • Stakeholder Management skills.
  • Conceptual and Analytical skills.
  • Negotiation skills.
  • Attention to detail
  • Technical skills related to Gas Utilization
