JOB DESCRIPTION
The overall purpose of the job.
Provision of quality education
To assist the head teacher in the management of academic calendar and activities of Kakira Secondary School. Impart learning of the students and monitor the implementation of the curricular and related activities in the school in order to provide quality education.
Duties/ Key Responsibilities
Administration
• Draw up and supervise teaching rosters for all staff, prefects.
• Revise the teaching syllabi in all subjects and ensure that heads of subjects revise the same in order to conform to the current curriculum.
Chair meetings of heads of subjects and departments every term.
Analyse performance trends in external examinations at both levels and take remedial action when necessary to improve performance.
• Monitor the delivery of curriculum (schemes, timetables, teaching records, marks, and reports).
Coordination
• Coordinate staff and students’ seminars and trainings
• Coordinate the implementation of the school’s programs and developments.
• Coordinate heads of departments, academic committees, class teachers, librarian, class monitors and student councilors.
Coordinate the registration and administration of students’ internal and external examinations.
• Coordinate with parents/ guardians on career choices of students with the help of the careers’ teachers.
Teaching & Counselling
• Effectively teach and evaluate students.
• Ensure that students receive counselling and guidance where it is deemed necessary in order to improve their academic well being
Communication
• Prepare and submit relevant periodical reports to the head teacher for his perusal Complying with safety measures
• Adhere to the safety, health and environment policy of the company.
Other Duties.
• Perform any other related duties as may be assigned by the Deputy Headteacher
• Management from time to time
Knowledge, qualifications & Experience
Education:
Education: A Degree in education. A relevant postgraduate qualification is an added advantage.
Experience, Skills, and Competences:
Experience: A minimum of five to seven (5-7) years teaching with hands on experience as a deputy head teacher or head of subject
Communication Skills: Manpower planning and development, general administrative skills, good communication skills, good supervisory and leadership skills, computer literate, good decision making and counseling skills.
