The Parliamentary Pension Scheme (PPS) was established by the Parliamentary Pensions Act 2007 as a Contributory Hybrid Cash Balance Retirement Benefit Plan for the Members of Parliament of Uganda and the Staff of the Parliamentary Commission. The Scheme is managed by a Board of Trustees, constituted in accordance with the Act.
The Board of Trustees invites applicants from suitably qualified Ugandan Nationals to fill the vacant position of Benefits Officer existing at the Parliamentary Pension Scheme. Jab Title: Benefits Officer
Reports to: Benefits Administration Manager
Job status; Contract
Duration: Five (5) years renewable based upon satisfactory performance
Purpose of the Job:
To plan, develop, coordinate implementation of information technology systems and support the Benefits Administration Manager to enhance efficiency in service delivery to members.
Qualifications:
• An Honors Bachelor’s Degree in either Actuarial Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Technology. Information Systems or Software engineering from a recognized University/Institution.
• A professional IT qualification in Oracle Database, good working knowledge of Linux and other open-source technologies.
• Three (3)years of working experience of IT systems analysis, application development and data analysis.
• Knowledge of data processing, hardware trouble shooting and enterprise software application.
Responsibilities:
• Analyze existing systems and procedures and recommend new strategies for improvement.
• Prepare technical documentation and functional specifications for IT related equipment and systems.
• Manage the systems of internet, email, intranet and Web based services.
• Manage data centre operations.
• Install, maintain and support an effective and efficient information technology infrastructure.
• Develop and maintain databases for members, validating, analyzing and reconciling member data in line with the relevant policies and procedures.
• Support processing of member benefits to ensure accurate and timely processing.
• Keep a log of customer queries and the resultant feedback on such concerns. Handle member queries and complaints.

• Support the development of communication content by providing regular service updates, opportunities, success stories etc.
• Guide and counsel members where necessary.
• Undertake data entry, filing and archiving of member records.
• Organize periodic help desks and member on site visits
• Support member education programs.
