dfcu Bank is a fast-growing Bank in Uganda offering a wide range of financial solutions to its chosen market segments. We are seeking to recruit for the position of Data Analyst in the Finance (CFO) Domain to support our expansion strategy.
REPORTING TO: Head of Data Analytics
JOB PURPOSE: Reporting to the Head of Data Analytics, the role holder will be responsible for delivering quality analytics and machine learning based models to drive insights and lay the foundation for a data driven culture. The Data Analyst will be responsible for the design, development and delivery of descriptive and predictive analytics and models using latest technologies, statistical and machine learning techniques to support business strategy and transform data into enterprise asset and solve complex problems.
LOCATION: Kampala
Key accountabilities:
• Design, maintenance, and enhancement of data analytics platforms that include;
• Data analytics pipelines for data Extraction, Transformation and Loading (ETL) to ensure high data quality, optimal performance, and reduced redundancy.
• Data warehouse/ data lake for storage and Data consumption tools for building dashboards, reports, and models.
• Build automated dashboards and reports to monitor and track important business metrics to improve efficiency and encourage self-service by user.
• Design, build, integrate and sustain advanced analytics models using statistical and machine learning techniques that include but not limited to: Retention/Churn/Attrition models, Customer lifetime value models, Customer profiling, Clustering/Segmentation and Propensity models.
• Proactively identify data issues and anomalies and raise these to the data governance and data quality teams for remediation to ensure accuracy of insights, reports, analyses, and models.
• Pay attention to all the bank’s system development and acquisition projects to provide guidance on the most efficient data structures to be adopted and/or acquired.
• Keep up to date with the latest technical developments within analytics and making sure that changes to the industry best practice are adopted.
• Ensure adherence to the data governance framework, policies, and procedures.
• Ensure that insights, analytics, and models adhere to the defined and agreed service level agreements (SLAs).
• Coach and develop less experienced data and business analysts and to ensure that they are well equipped for analytics and to support business growth.
Qualifications, experience and competencies required:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Informatics, Quantitative Economics.
• Master’s Degree in any of the above disciplines is an added advantage.
• Other qualifications, certifications, or professional memberships that relate to Data Analytics, Data Science, Data Engineering, Machine Learning and Data Governance.
• Relevant experience, strong knowledge of Python/R, SQL scripting, and Big data Analytics. Knowledge of other programming languages advantageous.
• Solid Knowledge of Machine leaning and Statistical model development.
• Technical knowledge of SQL Server, ETL processes, data models and database design development.
• Proficiency with data visualisation tools preferably Power BI.
• Minimum 1-year experience in similar field.
• Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
• Must be able to develop creative solutions to problems.
• Must be able to handle pressure and work under minimum supervision.
• High organizational and negotiation skills.
