HE is specialized in the implementation of last mile distribution models of reliable products and information that enhance health and the quality of life for people living in hard to reach and remote areas.

 

HE aims to contribute to solving social issues and improving access to basic health commodities and services by developing and implementing sound commercial business models. HE is implementing its franchise model via more than 8,000 Community Health Entrepreneurs (CHEs) in over 40 districts of Uganda today. For the Kampala office, we need an experienced credit officer who will be responsible for the credit management activities in a demanding and fast-growing organization.

 

Job Summary:  We are looking for an organised, enthusiastic, and motivated finance professional with a strong personality and a high level of independency who will implement the credit management policy while forecasting, managing, and controlling credit risk in the company as per set of predefined KPIs.

 

Such a professional should be able to meet the increased requirements of a fast-growing organization. As this will be a new role in our organisation, it will be supported on the ground by the cluster coordinators (with new role and responsibilities) in credit management. The credit officer works closely together with the sales team as well as with the finance team. This position reports directly to the Finance Manager. The credit officer plays a vital part in the smooth-running of the business and in the financial performance of the company.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

Credit Management

  • Train the sales officers in the company approach to credit management in line with your supervisor and company policy.
  • Schedule bi- weekly analysis credit report and update of credit by district, cluster, and CHE for sharing and guiding with the Sales/area teams at the SSO weekly meetings for proper credit repayment management.
  • Analyze the CHE performance and select the CHEs who qualify for extra credit as per the criteria and ensure proper managerial authorization and approval of extra credit. Also give a month report of extra credit given to CHEs for follow up.
  • Monthly ensure the check that no unauthorized credit was given per area sales team. Ensure proper reporting to management if discrepancy found, by district, cluster, and CHE.
  • Ensure that individual records of CHEs are continuously updated in our financial system Odoo.
  • Generate the weekly, monthly, and quarterly credit reports and forecasts for monitoring and reviewing with recommendations. At all levels of reporting from sales officers’ reports to summarized managerial reports
  • Solving of credit balance complaints in coordination with area sales teams.
  • Monitoring and alerting when the credit repayment target is behind target or not meeting company policy.
  • Manage and maintain the list and status of all CHEs in default with the recommended remedial action for defaulting CHEs in coordination with Senior Sales Officers/Sales and Operations Manager, i.e warnings, exits and material recovery.
  • Ensure that the new credit given to new CHEs has been recorded in the system in the period it relates and accurately corresponds to the details shared by the trainers.

Other

  • Lead or participate in team meetings, inter-departmental meetings, presentations, and workshops as required.
  • Work in close collaboration with other departments, sales and finance, warehouse as necessary.
  • Work closely with sales officers in customer care and feedback.
  • Effectively guide, train, and supervise junior finance team members.
  • Take part in all HE Academy trainings.
  • Any other activities that are needed to support the operations of Healthy Entrepreneurs Uganda smoothly.
  • Actively contribute to meetings.
  • Manage all credit management related activities.
  • Work in close collaboration with other departments; particularly sales and finance
  • Take part in all HE Academy trainings

Main place of work will be in Kampala. The credit officer agrees to live in or around Kampala, minimal travel to the field may be required.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

The credit officer must have:

  • A connection with our mission and vision
  • A Bachelor/master’s degree (a CFA degree or in last years is appreciated), any degree in business preferably accounting or CPA level 2, ACCA 2 or higher diploma accounting plus at least 3 years of relevant experience in credit management
  • Strong analytical skills, sufficient experience in a similar position (min 3 years)
  • Strong organization skills with the ability to prioritize competing demands.
  • Good analytical, critical, and inquisitive skills
  • Very good English language skills, ability to communicate in one local language.
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills and ability to analyze and interpret.
  • Good Microsoft office skills, extensive experience with bookkeeping systems
  • Team spirit; able to work with a wide range of people at different levels.
  • The ability to communicate in a constructive and honest matter.
  • The ability to be precise and critical.
  • To be available, honest, serious, and enjoys the confidence of others.
  • Demonstrated a considerable autonomy.
  • Must be flexible and adaptable, we are a dynamic and innovative company.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and evening or weekend shifts, when needed.
