FH’s primary goal is to end all forms of poverty World-wide. In Uganda, FH is operational in the Districts of Adjumani, Kitgum, Lamwo, Kole, Kween, Mbale, Namutumba and Amudat Districts implementing programs in four main sectors of Education; Food Security and Livelihoods; Health/Nutrition and Disaster Risk Reduction; with the Head office located in Kampala.
Job Summary: Under the overall guidance and supervision of the Program Director (PD), this role will be part of the Program Delivery Team. The H&N Specialist will support in making FHU a partner of choice in Health and Nutrition Programming in Uganda. Provide substantive and hands-on support to Area Programs (APs) and technical officers to implement the FH H&N technical projects. Support FH Uganda Program in technical and programmatic project management, design, proposal writing, representation and monitoring of Health and Nutrition sector within FH multi-sector development programs and projects that are consistent with the Health and Nutrition and projects that are consistent with the Health and Nutrition technical program and Transforming Field Experience (TFE) re-imagination initiative, and to collaborate with other sectors to develop integrated programming.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Proposal Development and Technical Quality Assurance (60%)
- Strengthen Visibility and Reporting (20%)
- External Relations (15%)
- Staff Development (5%)
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Food science and Technology, Nutrition and dietetics or related sciences from accredited university.
- MSc in Public Health, Nutrition and project management is desirable
- At least seven years of previous experience in health and nutrition programming
- Experience developing proposals in the health, public health and or nutrition.
- Experience in mainstreaming gender, environment, peace-building, disability and or institutional development (NNGO and government).
- Experience working with Government and other partners (Multi-lateral Agencies, private donors).
