Job Summary: The Resource Mobilization and Partnerships Specialist substantively contributes to the effective management of UNFPA activities in the areas of Communications, advocacy, partnerships and resource mobilization.  The officer is responsible for the development and implementation of effective partnerships, and resource mobilization strategies aimed at raising the visibility, and awareness of the work of UNFPA in Uganda with regards to the humanitarian context, and ultimately maximizing the availability of donor funding for the Country Office programme.

 

S/he will work under the direct supervision of the Representative.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The Resource Mobilization and Partnerships Specialist will head the RM, Innovation & Strategic Communications Unit and oversee the Country Office’s Partnerships & Resources Mobilization work.
  • S/he will also work closely with the respective program officers in the CO and field offices.
  • S/he will work in close collaboration with national authorities, humanitarian agencies (UN and international NGOs), national partners and civil society organizations to design bankable programs/projects, strengthen emergency preparedness and provide humanitarian assistance to crisis affected communities.
  • S/he will ensure coordination and linkages between the various programmes towards identifying resource gaps and ensuring integration of UNFPA mandate within the work of partners.
  • S/he will substantially contribute to UNFPA activities in the areas of reproductive health and prevention and response to gender-based violence and the overall mandate and focus of the country office.
  • The Resource Mobilization and Partnerships Specialist will proactively provide the Representative with information on progress and results of UNFPA programs/projects proposal development, funding opportunities and follow-up on innovative approaches for the synchronization and integration of various programmes of the CO.
  • Under the direct supervision of the Representative the Resource Mobilization and Partnerships Specialist works closely with the Deputy Representative to accelerate efforts to advance the work of various units of the CO in Uganda.
  • S/he will work to keep the work of UNFPA Uganda high on the agenda of Development Partners, optimize the acquisition of resources, create synergies, influence policies and improve consistency and effectiveness of UNFPA’s work in the country.
