Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Project Coordinator, the Health & Nutrition Officer will be primarily responsible for Promoting and strengthening health system management (HR, supply chain, information, leadership, governance, and accountability) structures to improve coordination and quality of service provision within the facility. The Health & Nutrition officer will implement and support strategies and approaches that improve the organizational performance of targeted health facilities with emphasis of the above. Support will be strongly focused on working closely with other partners and stakeholders supporting Health System Strengthen components that is to say. Health Information Systems, health workforce, service delivery, essential medicines and financing in order to serve and empower Health Facility workers and Village Health Teams. This will include a focus on capacity building on service delivery, advocacy for accountability of health resources and improving the communication between the facility and the community.In close collaboration with the District Health Office’s office, he/she will be responsible for the development of systems strengthening plans, monitoring and evaluating performance of these systems. He/she will ensure accurate documentation and reporting on District activities including training and monitoring is done.

Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics, Health related sector, Food science, and relevant work experience
- A post graduate qualification in a relevant field is an added advantage Language Skills
- Typically, 4+ years of experience in project management, compliance, financial management experience. Experience with working with private and institutional donors.
- Non-profit ministry experience is a plus. Program leadership experience that includes risk and compliance management, financial, and opportunity development
- Knowledge in value chain development, income generating activities and VSLA is desirable.
- Experience in the practices, principles and operations associated with modern agricultural production including knowledge of agronomic principles and practices, including crops, soils and nutrients. Proficiency in spoken and written English. Knowledge and working experience of KARAMOJA is added advantage
Note: A valid motorcycle-riding permit, including the ability to ride and care for a motorcycle is a Must for this job
